Last year, the search process for the Executive Secretary ran into trouble after a dispute erupted with Fagil Monday, the then board Chairman resigning after President yoweri Museveni renewed Bukenya’s contract which he opposed.
Mandy had also been accused of ring-fencing the process to suit one of the candidates and the Inspector General of Government halted the search process since according to it, had not followed the right procedures.
Search for New Executive Secretary
The search for the new executive to replace Bukenya is now on. UNEB has hired a consultancy firm, Dama Consultants Limited, to help identify a suitable person for the top post. The firm said applicants must be Ugandans with “proven high moral character and integrity.”
Applicants should also have at least a master’s degree in educational planning and management, educational measurement and assessment, curriculum development, business administration and public administration and management.
Other requirements include at least 15 years of “relevant experience”. The five year experience should have been gained at a senior management level as head of a recognized educational institution or as head of department in ‘a recognized’ institution of higher learning.
The applicants is also expected to be aged 45 years and above and must possess extensive knowledge and experience in examinations management, proven sound management skills, excellent interpersonal, team building, networking, negotiation, communication skills and computer competency.
The closing date for receiving applications is October 30th.
